Sonesta Maho Resort, which often hosts TK Poker Tour events in St Maarten, is working hard to support its employees in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. We received this message from them today, letting us know what we can do to help:
“Our beloved island has been destroyed and, although we will rebuild it in the future, our main focus now is to help the people who provide the basic necessities of life such as clean drinking water, food, clothing and cleaning. There is much more to do and compassion must be given. It is very important.
As you know, our Sonesta St. Maarten and the staff and people of Sint Maarten are the lifeblood of our hotels and destinations. It’s the people who make the event special – it’s what makes St. Maarten “The Friendly Island” and will not be forgotten in their time of need. So now, please help us to help them.
We are working directly with the charity Samaritan’s Purse who have been helping as first responders after Hurricane Irma, and are currently at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort providing humanitarian services on the island.
We have also established an official fundraising website for employees and staff of Sonesta Resorts Sint Maarten and The Maho Group. This fund will collect money to provide new clothes, goods and household items; it will also improve support for workers and co-workers and reduce medical and transportation costs.
We are asking for your help and donations today because time is of the essence. We assure you that your offer is valid and valid, and will be carefully monitored.
Give through our dedication Sonesta St. Maarten GoFundMe page providing direct support to our valued employees on: www.gofundme.com/sonestasxmstaff.
Or go to Samaritan’s purse website to donate to the islands of St. Maarten at: www.samaritanspurse.org.
We cannot let the victims of Irma in the Caribbean be forgotten. The real work has just begun.
